| The Rally Driving Course comprises half a day, one-on-one training on a closed forest road near Canberra. The forest sections used for the training are leased from ACT Forests and in extreme weather conditions, such as total fire bans or prolonged heavy rain, the forest is closed and the courses cannot be held. In the case of a high fire danger the courses can only be held in the morning and need to start at 6:00am! Who attends Rally Driving Courses? There seems to be two groups of people who attend our Rally Driving Course. The first is those who are already involved in rallying and are looking to improve their skills. For these people Rick can review the basics and continue into more advanced aspects of rallying. He will also look at the car set-up to make sure it is suited to the driver. He will recommend any changes necessary that will enhance the drivers skills. Over the past few years drivers have travelled from many different places in Eastern Australia including Melbourne, Sydney and country New South Wales and Victoria. The second group who attend rally driving courses are those who are looking for a little bit of fun and excitement. This makes up a large number of the total people attending our rally driving course. Most of these people have had no previous experience in rally cars and can be male or female, young or old. What Sort of Vehicle Is Used? Of course not everyone has a rally car. That is why we can provide a 1979 TD Holden Gemini. The car is fully fitted out and has all the necessary safety requirements eg, roll cage, 4 point harnesses and helmuts are supplied. For those already experienced in rally driving and have their own cars we do recommend their use. As mentioned above Rick will be able to look at the car set up to make sure it is suited to the driver's style. When Can Rally Courses Be Held? A rally driving course can be held seven days a week. They can be either in the morning or the afternoon. As mentioned above the forest sections used for the training are leased from ACT Forests and in extreme weather conditions, such as total fire bans or prolonged heavy rain, the forest is closed and the courses cannot be held. In the case of a high fire danger the courses can only be held in the morning and need to start at 6:00am! Where possible we would like at least seven days notice. Where is the Rally Course Held? The rally driving course is held just south of Canberra in a locked forest. It is locked to ensure no one else can be in the forest at the same time. A real safety issue. How Long Does the Rally Lesson Last? The rally lesson runs for 3.5 hours. Usually from 9:00am - 12:30pm or 1:00pm - 4:30pm. Sometimes in periods of high fire danger a course may need to commence at 6:00am!
